Why Med Spa Treatments?
Skin is the largest organ in the body and is known to be a reflection of your overall health and wellbeing. Here at Salas Plastic Surgery we take place great importance on skin health and we believe Med Spa Treatments bring your skincare game to the next level.
Microneedling, Dermaplaning, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels, LEDs and PRP are some of the best tools we have to treat the skin. Whether you have old acne scars, enlarged pores, skin laxity or fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation or any other skincare concern these may be the perfect treatments for you.
Microneedling causes micro injuries to the skin by passing over it with tiny needles. The controlled damage to the skin cells encourages new cell growth including collagen and elastin growth which plump and strengthen the skin. You can expect to see smaller pores, tighter skin, improvement in scarring and improved skin texture.
Chemical Peels are a form of chemical exfoliation. Since not all chemical peels are created equally, you can expect different results. Peels containing Lactic, Citric and Glycolic acid are often more mild and leave your skin glowing. These are great for skincare maintenance or getting ready for a big event. Stronger peels including Salicylic acid and TCA often cause more dramatic peeling of the skin and require preparation before the procedure and downtime after. These peels are great to treat many different skin conditions.
Dermaplaning is done by using a sharp blade to manually shave off the dead skin cells and peach fuzz that lay on the surface of the skin. This results in improved texture of the skin allowing better product absorption and improved makeup application. Many patients worry that hair regrowth will be thicker however this is not the case.
LED lights have been proven to have a great effect on skin. By using red colored lights we are able to improve circulation which aids in more youthful skin. Blue lights can be used for individuals with acne as it helps to reduce bacteria and help your skin heal.
Preparation & Recovery
For most of these procedures you will need to stop the use of any Vitamin A or Retinol products prior to your appointment. For our 3 step chemical peel you will need to be preconditioned for 6-8 weeks before your treatment to prevent blanching of the skin.
Recovery for these procedures may take up to 3-5 days depending on what you have done. Specific after care directions will be given to you by your skincare therapist.
