Why Get Kybella?

Kybella is a non-surgical, injectable treatment for double chins. It targets and destroys stubborn fat cells in the neck without harming other healthy, surrounding cells.

Anyone who has tried to lose weight knows how difficult it is. This is especially true for fat around the face and neck - it just seems to accumulate, no matter how hard we work to eliminate it. Kybella is an FDA-approved way to remove this resistant fat for good, and restore a more youthful contour to the neck.

Procedure Details

What is Kybella used for?

Kybella is a non-invasive, FDA-approved injectable, that is used to treat double chins. Because it is a nonsurgical injectable, there is minimal downtime, and indeed, many patient choose to undergo this procedure during lunch break at work.

It is particularly useful for patents who are hoping to reduce fatty buildup under the neck, resulting from age and genetics. This procedure is most effective for patients with minimal skin laxity. Those with excess loose skin around the neck may be advised to pursue a different course of treatment.

How does Kybella work?

Kybella is composed of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that aids the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When this is injected into the body, it will slowly dissolve the fat cells around that area. This leaves behind fatty acids, which are reabsorbed and eventually eliminated from the body. It targets stubborn fat cells in the neck, whilst leaving healthy cells unharmed.

Although Kybella is usually used to target double chins, the technology can be used to target any small, stubborn fat deposits. If you are interested in non-surgical fat reduction elsewhere on the body, please contact Dr. Salas for a consultation.

How long does the treatment take?

The entire procedure takes less than 30 minutes, and can easily fit into busy schedules. Because it is nonsurgical, there is minimal downtime, and most patients are fully recovered with two days (very slight bruising is the extent of most patients side-effects).

Although some patients may be happy with the results after only one session, 2 to 4 sessions is most typical and some patients may need as many as six. Because it takes time for Kybella to dissolve fat cells, finished results will be visible four weeks after the initial treatment.

How long will the treatment last?

Kybella results in permanent spot reduction. Because fat cells are eliminated and not just shrunk, the cells can no longer gain accumulations of fat. This means that you will permanently have a slimmer, more attractive neck profile and can be more confident in your appearance.

Preparation & Recovery

Since this is not a surgical procedure little preparation and recovery is needed. We do recommend not taking any blood thinning medications ( Aspirin, Advil, Fish oil, Vit E, etc. )  right before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.

After the procedure we will apply a cooling gel to the skin & give you an icepack to calm the area.
