Why Get Botox?

Botox is an injection that temporarily smoothes wrinkles such as crow's feet and frown lines, resulting in a more youthful, attractive appearance. It is a muscle immobilizer, that blocks nerve impulses to facial muscles, and so weakens their contraction. By weakening the contraction of facial muscles, Botox softens and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Botox is the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedure in America, and this popularity highlights its effectiveness. However, inexpert application can result in 'frozen face' and unattractive, embarrassing outcomes. Dr. Salas is very experienced with Botox, and takes special care to provide a personalized result that is perfect for your face and goals.

Botox can also prevent excessive sweating and may be helpful to some migraine sufferers.

Procedure Details

Botox is a fast and effective way to smooth and prevent wrinkles and facial lines.
Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the wrinkle-causing muscle. This helps it smooth the muscles of the face and neck. When used early in life, it can even prevent wrinkles from forming!

What is Botox used for?
Every time we laugh, smile or frown, Dynamic Wrinkles are created by the contractions in our delicate facial muscles. Over time, these 'contractions' leave us with what we know as frown lines, crow's feet and laughter lines. By blocking impulses from the nerves to our tiny facial muscles, temporarily relaxing them so that they don't contract, Botox softens the appearance of these lines. While the untreated muscles react in a normal way allowing facial expressions to be unaffected, the skin itself remains smooth and unwrinkled. The improvement can be surprisingly dramatic.

Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. Depending on the individual, results can last up to 3-6 months. There is evidence to suggest that the muscles eventually retrain themselves so that less frequent treatments may be necessary over time.

With over 20 years of experience with Botox, Dr. Salas' technical finesse ensures a natural, beautiful result. In addition, he keeps photographic records of patients' treatments, keeping track of how much Botox is injected and where it is used. This allows for incremental improvement and an even better outcome for future visits.

Preparation & Recovery

Since this is not a surgical procedure little preparation and recovery is needed. We do recommend abstaining from taking any blood thinning medications ( Aspirin, Advil, Fish oil, Vit E, etc. )  right before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.

After the procedure we will apply a cooling gel to the skin & give you an icepack to calm the area. After getting Botox or Xeomin injections to the face it is important to make exaggerated facial movements to ensure the drug is absorbed into the muscle. You should notice a dramatic change within 1 week.
