Botox & Restylane
Botox

What is Botox?
Used safely and effectively for many years by ophthalmologists to treat eyelid and
eye muscle spasm, Botox is an
approved medical protein which effects a process known as cosmetic denervation.
Its effectiveness having been proven, it is now increasingly being used to reverse the signs of visible aging.
What is Botox used for?
Every time we laugh, smile or frown, Dynamic Wrinkles are created by the contractions
in our delicate facial muscles. Over time, these 'contractions' leave us with what
we know as frown lines, crow's feet and laughter lines. By blocking impulses from
the nerves to our tiny facial muscles, temporarily relaxing them so that they don't
contract, Botox softens the appearance of these lines. While the untreated muscles
react in a normal way allowing facial expressions to be unaffected, the skin itself
remains smooth and unwrinkled. The improvement can be surprisingly dramatic.
How long does the treatment take?
Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
How long will the treatment last?
Depending on the individual, results can last up to 6 months. There is however evidence
to suggest that the muscles eventually retrain themselves so that less frequent treatments
may be necessary over time.
In summary
Non-intrusive and painless, Botox is administered through a tiny micro-needle so fine
that there is very minimal discomfort. Treatment may be carried out immediately since
no 'test patch' is required, and normal activities can be resumed immediately. There
is some evidence that some of those who suffer from migraine have, after receiving
Botox treatment, experienced a vast improvement in their condition.
Restylane

What is Restylane?
Similar to one of the body's own natural substances (hyaluronic acid), it is a completely
safe treatment. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane simply
supplement the body's age-depleted hyaluronic acid to plump-up the lip or to raise
the skin and 'fill in' the particular wrinkle being treated.
What is Restylane used for?
Restylane is an excellent treatment for: wrinkle correction, lip enhancement, smile
lines (correcting thin, superficial lines around the eyes, mouth and forehead), deep
folds, shaping facial contours (such as cheeks and chin correcting), & volume augmentation
of the lips
How long does the treatment take?
Treatment time for Restylane take approximately 30 minutes.
How long will the treatment last?
The effect of both Restylane and Perlane treatment will vary from individual to individual.
It very much depends on factors such as the person's age and lifestyle, the structure
of the skin, and the degree of perfection required. Most patients however choose
to have a further treatment within a year since the hyaluronic acid in both products,
being a natural substance, dissolves over time. Being larger in size, Perlane takes
longer to dissipate than Restylane.
In summary
Restylane and Perlane treatments are quick and extremely effective. Since neither product
is extracted from animals, there is no risk of an allergic reaction. As one of the
main components of both products, hyaluronic acid, occurs naturally within the body,
no 'patch test' is required. Treatment may commence immediately after consultation
and results are instantaneous.
